fibersect.multi2

Multi-Fiber Benchtop Cleaver (Pre-Polish)

The fibersect is designed to cut all epoxied ferrules and connectors.  It improves throughput and first pass yield by eliminating manual steps and human variables.  The fibersect.multi2 also minimizes polishing and provides a precise and reliable outcome. The end result is significant savings in production.

Features

fibersect.multi2.jpg
  • Optimized to quickly cut through the large amount of epoxy and the many fibers of the 4 to72 fiber MT ferrules and large diameter (>300 micron) fibers used with the SMA connector.

  • Cuts parallel to the ferrule face whether the face is at 0° (flat) or at 8° angle (APC).

  • • Recommended adapters: MT, MT-APC, and SMA with fiber diameter of 300-2000 µm

  • Custom adapters are available

  • Cut cycle time: <1 sec for MT and MT-APC ferrules; <4 sec for SMA connectors with 1000 µm fibers • Recommended cut length from ferrule face: 100 µm for MT and MT-APC; 150 µm for SMA connectors

  • Adjustable cut length from ferrule face: 0-600 µm; 5 µm adjusting resolution • Maximum fiber protrusion from ferrule face before cutting: 10 mm •

  • Cut angle: <+/- 0.5° • Adapter changeover time: <30 sec • Warranty: One year •

  • Expected saw lifetime: > 600,000 cuts when cutting 12-fiber epoxied MT ferrules •

  • Power: 100-240 Vac, 50-60 Hz, 0.48 A; with rechargeable battery •

  • Battery capacity: >400 cuts when cutting 12-fiber epoxied MT ferrules •

  • Dimensions: W x D x H / 3.75 x 5.25 x 3.50 in / 95 x 133 x 89 mm • Weight: 2 lbs / 0.9 kg

Benefits

fibersect MT.JPG
  •  Improves throughput and first pass yield by eliminating manual steps and reducing human variables, thereby minimizing polishing, maximizing reliability and precision, and producing significant savings in production.

  • Small footprint, lightweight, portable, battery powered

  • Fast, easy cut length adjustment

  • Quick adapter change

  • Safely collects cutting waste

  • Quickly produces a flat cut very close to the ferrule face, presenting the ideal surface to start polishing and markedly improve polished end face geometry.

  • Simple, One-button operation provides exceptional versatility, portability, and ease of use.

POSITIVE USER EXPERIENCES

  • Minimal Operator Training for easy labor management in a high turnover environment

  • "Good input, Good process output" - Consistent cut height produces even distribution of polishing pressure resulting in higher first pass yields that impact down stream processes.

    • Eliminates variable ferrule heights to start polishing

    • Reduction in scrap and rework (zero operator dependent)

    • Potential improvement in Geometry, Insertion Loss and Visual Inspection Yield

    • Reduction in Polishing time saves labor and increases throughput

We stock a wide range of ferrule and connector adapters for quick delivery. We also can provide custom adapters based on your needs.

Other options include:

  • Vacuum waste collector

  • Cut counter

  • Footswitch actuator

  • Stand options
