Koncentrik V2



The Ferrule end-face geometry characteristics are key factors to the quality of patch-cords interconnections. While interferometry measurement tools can measure some of these characteristics (Radius of polishing, Apex-offset, Fiber height), they cannot measure the concentricity of the fiber core with respect to the ferrule outer envelope. Fiber-core concentricity can have various origins such as fiber cladding to core concentricity , ferrule envelope to bore concentricity and unmatched fiber diameter to ferrule bore diameter. The result of poor concentricity is a loss in optical power at interconnect and therefore a loss in performance.
The KONCENTRIK-V2 is a modular measurement system. Several mechanical modules are available so that either fiber or ferrule concentricity measurements can be performed.


Koncentrik Connector
With this module the KONCENTRIK-V2 has the ability to measure the concentricity of the fiber core with respect to the ferrule outer envelope of a connector with a 0.15µm precision. It can also measures the position of the core with respect to the connector key with a few degrees of precision.

Koncentrik Ferrule
With this module the KONCENTRIK-V2 has the ability to measure concentricity of the ferrule bore with respect to the ferrule outer envelope with less than 0.15µm uncertainty. Other measured values are the angular position of the bore with respect to the connector key (tuning applications), the bore diameter and non-circularity errors of both the ferrule outer envelope and the ferrule bore.

High precision fiber to ferrule angular misalignment measurements.
The Koncentrik-FarField will enable you to measure the angular misalignment between the fiber and the ferrule axes in an optical connector as per the IEC 61300-3-26 standard. The optical performance (Insertion loss) of a connector is mainly influenced by the fiber eccentricity (measured with Data-Pixel’s Koncentrik-V2) and fiber misalignment (also known as “fiber angle”) and now measurable with Data-Pixel’s Koncentrik-FarField system.
